House Renovation Update

Sorry it's taken me such a long time to get round to posting about the work that's being done on our house; for some reason since we moved to Somerset I feel as if time just slips through my fingers - not because I'm busy with work or anything as bad as that (!), but because there's so much to do, see, enjoy, experience and explore. We are enjoying life in Somerset so much and I'm so glad we made the move.

Anyway, back to the house. Would you believe, we bought it nearly a year ago? It was August Bank Holiday that we completed on the sale; then it took us several months to get round to finding an architect, then agreeing what we wanted (and could afford) to do, then finding the builder and waiting for him to be free to start. So that took us to the end of April and, as luck would have it, the start of the build coincided with our move to the village and a rental house just around the corner. We had debated whether to stay in Reading while the build went on, but we are now so glad that we made the move sooner rather than later, not just because we love being here so much, but also because being (almost) on site every day has really helped the build along; we are able to answer queries from the builders, electricians, plumbers, burglar alarm man, carpenter, roofer, etc, etc, almost straight away - so no delays can be blamed on us (so far!) It also means that there are no nasty surprises waiting for us as we pop round pretty much every day to see what has been going on, and if there is anything that seems not quite right we can get it put right (as an example, we noticed the electrician had put the plug for the 'summer pack' on the heated towel rail in the ensuite in the wrong place, next day it was a couple of feet further along the wall, in the right place and all was good in the world).

So, here's a big batch of photos that show the work that has gone on so far, externally at the rear of the house; I'll have to do a separeate post to show the internal changes, otherwise I'll be here all night uploading the photos!
