Renovation Progress: One Year On. 18.05.12

I thought it might be fun to add some photos each day (if I have time) which show how the house and/or garden has changed in exactly one year. So here's a shot of the garden looking towards the back wall and with the house directly behind me (with hubby in his beekeeping suit, and one of the chooks in her run) taken on the 18th of May 2011.

And here's a shot of the garden from the same spot taken today, the 18th of May 2012.

At least now you can see the lovely brick wall; it's from the kitchen garden that served the manor house in the village, although our house has been built where the kitchen garden was once planted, which is a pity but at least we get some of the original features to admire.

In the space of a year we've (when I say 'we', I mean mostly hubby, admittedly) replaced the fencing to the right, cut back a LOT of overgrown shrubs, trees, weeds, etc, moved the chooks to a dedicated penned-in area, moved the beehive to the other side of the garden, planted lots of veggies, and laid new gravel on the path - quite a transformation, with more still to come!

Now, let's turn 180 degrees and have a look at the house. Here it is one year ago; seems to be missing most of the back wall, windows, doors...

And here it is now, back wall in situ, along with new windows, doors, and a patio. Looking good, even if I do say so myself!

  1. Wow you've done so much in 12 months - I have lots of "before" photo's of our home but not too many "after" ones as yet!I'm looking forward to seeing more, it may just spur us on!
